I offered them $5,000 more and they came back saying they'd meet me in the middle. So I didn't need to ask them to throw in the furniture after all! Unfortunately possesion isn't until August 15, which is fine for me because I'm not going to be around anyway. It feels odd knowing that I'm buying a place but won't really be "moving in" for a few months or so. It's quite possible that it's going to sit empty for a month or so while I get things sorted out.
