I'm laying in bed in Edmonton reflecting on the last 9 days. They've been good days. I have really enjoyed this turnaround. I started it off with an overnight visit in Edmonton before I jetted off to Toronto last Friday. I spent two days with a VERY pregnant Marcie and Frank. I honestly think this marked the first time that I've ever been consistently out-eaten by a friend. Overall Toronto was very relaxed which was good because I arrived there when the biggest snow storm of the year was just starting.

Monday I boarded Via rail at Union Station and took a very enjoyable trip to Ottawa where my friend Kim picked me up. She's lived in Ottawa for five years now and is very successful in her career with the Federal Government. I spent the first day there on my own so decided to check out the National Gallery where I was more amazed by the amazing building it's housed in than by the actual collections. After that I made my way over to the Chateau Laurier and enjoyed a cup of tea and some soup while I waited for Kim to get off work and meet me for dinner. We went for an amazing Italian dinner and just spent time catching up on the past number of years.

Next day Kim was able to take a flex day and we went to the Parliament buildings, which were incredibly beautiful, and to Rideau Hall which was closed but was impressive none-the-less. That night we had an awesome meal at The Keg with her boyfriend, whom she's having a house built with, and called it an early night.

The next morning I was on a West Jet flight at 730 bound back for Edmonton where I've spent the last few days with Raph and Wifey. Also went out partying with my buddy J. Took him to his first gay club where of course he ran into one of his ex-girlfriends! Entirely entertaining.

Tonight I'm heading back for work where I do the regular thing for another 20 days then I'm going home for the first time since a couple days in January. I'm hoping that I'll be able to talk my Boss into letting me switch my schedule from a 20&8 to a 15&6 soon. Having done 20&8's for the last 2 years now have pretty much been killing me.

One final point of note. During Wifey's birthday celebration the other night my former boss (little boss from my last company) called me asking me if I'd be interested in a new job. The fact that he was calling me blew me away because seriously we clashed like crazy! After listening to his proposal I declined as I'm really quite happy with my current company and am hoping to have at least another few years with them on my resume. I sincerely thanked him for thinking of me and hung up the phone. Interesting how life works sometimes isn't it.
